Towards the end of the year, all entrepreneurs may take stock, but we wedding planners especially like to evaluate the season, how it went, whether we will change anything in the future, what we expect from the next one, etc. I feel lucky to have had such a 2023 season as a wedding planner. I had wonderful couples with even more wonderful weddings. But I have had my challenges too, and based on these I have brought you some advice, because it will be useful for future wedding planners and brides alike!
1. If you’re thinking of hiring a wedding planner, make sure that’s the first step, not contracting the venue. The planner will be able to help you a lot with the venue, which is a crucial point of the planning process & the day itself as well.
2. Even if you don’t have a wedding planner, it’s still worth taking a consultation, you’ll get lots of useful tips and advice in an hour.
3. If you feel that the the venue staff who will be in charge of your wedding is incompetent , it’s a very tense situation. Try to give them as detailed script as possible and discuss everything at least 2x before the wedding, in person if possible.
4. Make sure that your service providers have the opportunity to eat in appropriate conditions. They will be working 12-14 hours at your wedding, so it is natural to provide them with dinner, even if the venue staff may think otherwise.
5. Keep a budget spreadsheet from the start to track costs.
